Complete guide to managing your DJ events on iPhone and iPad

📱 Download & Sign In

Step 1: Download from App Store

  1. Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad
  2. Search for "UpNext DJ"
  3. Tap Get to download (it's free!)
  4. Wait for installation to complete

Step 2: Sign In with Apple (DJs Only)

  1. Open the UpNext DJ app
  2. Tap "Sign in with Apple"
  3. Follow the Apple authentication prompts
  4. You're in! Ready to create your first event

📝 Note: Only DJs need to sign in with Apple to manage events. Guests can join events without creating an account - they just download the app and enter your event code!

💡 Tip: Use the same Apple ID on your iPhone and Mac to sync events across devices!

🎉 Creating Your First Event

Quick Event Creation

  1. Tap the + (Plus) button on the main screen
  2. Enter your event name (e.g., "Sarah's Birthday Party")
  3. Toggle Clean-Only Mode if needed (filters explicit content)
  4. Tap Create Event

📝 Note: Event type tagging (Weddings, School Dances, Corporate, Private Parties) is only available on the Mac app with a subscription. This enables tag-based Top 100 charts.

Understanding Your Event Code

After creating your event, you'll see:

👀 Viewing Song Requests

Real-Time Request Queue

Once guests join your event, their song requests appear instantly:

  1. Tap on your event from the main screen
  2. View all requests sorted by votes (most popular at top)
  3. Each request shows:
    • Song title and artist
    • Vote count (upvotes)
    • Album artwork (if available)

Managing Requests

💡 Tip: The crowd decides what's popular through voting! Let the votes guide your setlist.

⚙️ Managing Events

Viewing All Your Events

The main screen shows all your events. Tap any event to view its requests and manage them in real-time.

Toggling Clean-Only Mode

You can enable or disable Clean-Only Mode for an event:

  1. Open your event
  2. Find the Clean-Only Mode toggle on the event page
  3. Toggle it on/off as needed

When enabled, guests will only see clean versions of songs when searching.

Deleting Events

  1. Swipe left on an event from the main screen
  2. Tap Delete
  3. Confirm deletion

⚠️ Warning: Deleting an event is permanent! All requests will be lost and guests won't be able to rejoin.

📤 Exporting Playlists

Export to Apple Music

  1. Open your event
  2. Tap the Export button
  3. Choose Apple Music
  4. Name your playlist
  5. Tap Create Playlist
  6. Find it in your Apple Music library!

Export to CSV

  1. Open your event
  2. Tap the Export button
  3. Choose CSV
  4. Select where to save (Files app, AirDrop, etc.)
  5. Import to Spotify or any DJ software later

💡 Tip: Export your playlist at the end of the night to remember what songs were popular!
