📱 iOS Features & Limitations

What can I do with the iOS app?

+

The iOS app is perfect for managing events on the go:

  • Create unlimited events with custom settings
  • View song requests in real-time, sorted by votes
  • Delete unwanted requests with a swipe
  • Export playlists to Apple Music or CSV
  • Toggle Clean-Only Mode during events
  • Share event codes via QR or text

What features are Mac-only?

+

The Mac app offers these advanced features:

  • Music Library Scanning: Scan your local music files (MP3, M4A, FLAC, etc.)
  • Library Matching: Match guest requests to songs you actually have
  • Top 100 Charts: See most requested songs (your events + global)
  • Tag-Based Analytics: Charts by event type (Weddings, Parties, Corporate, School Dances)
  • Import Playlists: Import M3U8/CSV playlists into events
  • Advanced Export: Export matched songs to M3U8 for DJ software

The iOS app is focused on lightweight, mobile event management!

Can I scan my music library on iOS?

+

No. Music library scanning is only available on the Mac app.

iOS doesn't provide access to local music files in the same way macOS does. For library scanning and matching, you'll need the Mac app.

However, you can still:

  • Search the Apple Music catalog for requests
  • Export to Apple Music playlists
  • Export to CSV for manual matching later

Do events sync between iOS and Mac?

+

Yes! Events automatically sync when you sign in with the same Apple ID.

Common workflow:

  1. Create event on Mac with imported playlist
  2. View it instantly on iPhone
  3. Manage requests from iPhone during the gig
  4. Export final playlist from either device

All changes sync in real-time across devices!

⚙️ Managing Events on iOS

How do I share my event with guests?

+

After creating an event, you have 3 options:

  • Show QR Code: Guests scan with their camera app
  • Share 6-Letter Code: Guests manually enter in app (e.g., "ABC123")
  • Share Link: Send via text, social media, or email

Important: Guests must download the UpNext DJ app before they can join!

Can I reorder song requests?

+

No. Requests are automatically sorted by vote count - the most popular songs stay at the top.

What you can do:

  • Delete unwanted requests (swipe left)
  • Let guest voting determine the order
  • Export the list and manually reorder in your DJ software

The voting system puts control in the crowd's hands!

What is Clean-Only Mode?

+

Clean-Only Mode filters explicit content from guest searches - perfect for family-friendly events!

When enabled:

  • Only clean versions appear in search results
  • Explicit songs are completely hidden
  • Great for weddings, school dances, corporate events

You can toggle it on/off anytime in event settings.

How do I delete an event?

+

From the main events list:

  1. Swipe left on the event
  2. Tap Delete
  3. Confirm deletion

Warning: This is permanent! All requests will be lost and guests won't be able to rejoin with the old code.

📤 Exporting & Apple Music

How do I export to Apple Music?

+

Exporting is quick and easy:

  1. Open your event
  2. Tap the Export button
  3. Choose Apple Music
  4. Name your playlist
  5. Tap Create

Your playlist will appear in the Apple Music app immediately!

Can I export to Spotify?

+

Not directly. But you can export to CSV and manually import to Spotify:

  1. Export event as CSV
  2. Save to Files app or email yourself
  3. Open CSV on computer
  4. Use a tool like Soundiiz or TuneMyMusic to import to Spotify

Does exporting work without Apple Music subscription?

+

Yes! You can export to Apple Music playlists even without a subscription.

However:

  • You'll need an Apple Music subscription to play the songs
  • Without a subscription, the playlist still exists - you just can't stream it
  • CSV export always works regardless of subscriptions

🔧 Troubleshooting iOS Issues

Guests can't see my event / QR code doesn't work

+

Common solutions:

  • Check internet: Both you and guests need active connection
  • Verify code: Make sure they're entering the correct 6-letter code
  • App required: Guests MUST download UpNext DJ from App Store first
  • QR alternative: If scanning fails, share the 6-letter code manually
  • Event exists: Make sure you didn't accidentally delete the event
